On Wednesday, December 3rd over 100 friends and advocates of neighborhood parks gathered at the NPC offices to celebrate the 2008 holiday season. To see more photos of the festivities, click here.
Guests enjoyed the now-famous NPC traditions of honey-baked ham and Isabel’s punch. Interim RPD General Manager Jared Blumenfeld shared his thoughts on his position thus far, as well as the outlook for the coming year. He emphasized the importance of continual support from the park advocate community, particularly in the challenging times that lie ahead. Just before his speech, Jared accepted a “Park Family” Santa hat, in recognition of his new role at RPD.

Like many of NPC’s yearly events, the Holiday Party was a great opportunity for park advocates and friends to gather together and share stories, advice, and to make new connections. Both park veterans and newbies alike had an opportunity to interact with RPD and City staff, as well as with elected officials. However, do not be mistaken, the atmosphere was pleasure, not business. Good food and drink fueled laughter and cheer, as guests celebrated another fruitful year in the parks, and an exciting new year to come.
