The Guardsmen, The SF Horseshoe Pitching Club and The SF Rec & Park Department are engaging in an ambitious plan to restore Golden Gate Parks best kept secret: Horseshoe Arena at the North East corner of Golden Gate Park, created by The New Deal.
The Grand re-opening will be celebrated with the Inaugural SF International Horseshoe Tournament on Saturday September 12, 2009, from 12-5 PM (Dedication Ceremony 11 am). We will host a 64 team, double elimination horseshoe tournament, with sponsorship booths, beer gardens, DJ, BBQ, and horseshoe exhibitions. The Re-Dedication Ceremony, planned with local government agencies and historic preservation groups, will present this beautiful space to as many people as possible.
