Balboa Park Playground is on the way to being rebuilt in 2008!
Friends of Balboa Park Playground (FOBPP) have partnered with NPC and RPD to apply for a gift-in place to the City of a new playground built by KaBOOM! and funded by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
KaBOOM!, a national non-profit with a vision of a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America, has collaborated with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) in selecting Balboa Park Playground for AAOS’ annual playground build associated with their March 2008 conference in San Francisco.
Friends of Balboa Park Playground joined forces this year to apply for the playground project, and to ensure the required community fundraising and volunteer playground build day requirements will be met and succeed, in their shared vision for a safe and inspiring place for their children to play.
NPC is working closely with FOBPP, RPD and KaBOOM! to ensure this exciting opportunity is realized. NPC would like to thank the Recreation and Parks Commission for supporting RPD in the contracting process, and also the Superintendent of Neighborhood Services, Scott Reese, for his role in moving this project forward.
