Two park groups have recently received small grants to add important amenities to their parks. Help McLaren Park, in collaboration with Friends of McLaren Park, received a $2000 Innovator Award from the SF Parks Trust to partially fund the installation of an informational kiosk. Help McLaren Park is focused on advocating and fundraising for quality play structures in the park, and the kiosk will prove to be a valuable communication tool in their organizing.
The Friends of Franklin Square, fresh from a playground rebuild, were awarded a $5000 grant from SF Beautiful to fund the installation of a drinking fountain near the new playground. In addition, they were also able to use leftover funds from previous grants to fund a new kiosk that will announce their regular meetings and workdays to the droves of new park users that are enjoying the revamped playground.
Stay tuned to our website for announcements on these types of grant programs that can bring resources to your neighborhood park!
